Reviews

Casey Mason also writes for Wolf Pirate Publishing.  She pubished her debut book with Wolf Pirate, Unforgiven, this year!  Casey's writing style takes the action from the first sentence to the last, with no lapse in between!--Suspense Magazine

If you’re a thriller fan, Casey Mason’s Unforgiven will take you on an unforgettable ride. Even if you’re not, give this one a try. It’ll pay off. In the world of Unforgiven, American society has reached way beyond the patriot act when it comes to the incorrigible. These internal conflicts match perfectly with the external plot, which starts fast, reaches warp-speed momentum, and sustains it for chapter after unrelenting chapter.  Mason beautifully weaves the relationships between the pregnant baby sitter, Angel’s emotional changes and romance, and the book’s action. Mason has a real gift for making the reader not only turn, but rip, the page in the excitement to get to how this or that part is going to turn out. Congratulations to Casey Mason and Wolf Pirate for the production of a compelling and first class thriller. May author and publisher alike prosper and create many more.--Carlos Cepillo

The story moves from showing readers what it would be like if this kind of unit in the police department existed and gives rise to the question, deep down inside do we believe this is the possible solution to the problem of rampant and uncontrollable violent crime...Mason cleverly wove together the repercussions.  The ending had a dramatically stunning answer for you, which I was left feeling . . . wow, I didn't see that coming. Unforgiven isn't a book for someone meek of heart.--N.T. Boston

AN UNCONTROLLABLE RISE IN VIOLENT CRIMES PROMPTS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
TO TAKE DRASTIC ACTIONS

It’s unforgivable how a sense of a diffidence, sympathy, and denial has allowed the most heinous criminals ever to proliferate in what we proudly extol to be the greatest country of the world.  Daily headlines never lack for subject matter with shock value.  Court dockets are booked solid with repeat offenders.  Jails are overcrowded with the worst criminals who have finally reached society’s limit of tolerance.  Public pressure on the federal government has instituted new criminal justice measures to combat the problem so the public can sleep safely at night.

Local law enforcement agencies are sanctioned to create WANT bureaus for the purpose of pursuing, apprehending, and putting down the most violent and vile criminals who refuse to comply with justice.  These officers are highly trained and committed to do what the majority of society would rather not admit is necessary to put their world back in order.

Angel Soren is one such WANT officer, a rare woman in a mostly male-dominated unit.  She has the wherewithal to chamber a round, sight down a rifle, and pull the trigger on an unsuspecting criminal on the lam—if that’s what’s written in the judicial order of execution.  Her ideology of crime and punishment is entrenched in the reality of seeing the suffering of victims day in and day out, and knowing that the old ways of bringing about justice just aren’t working anymore.

This is gritty, hard-hitting fiction, written by new and upcoming author, Casey Mason.  In a voice spoken by the main character, the story revolves not around the mindless and repetitive executions of one criminal after another, but the ramifications of one execution that leaves Angel Soren grappling with her own guilt.  This work will have readers recognizing their hidden acknowledgement that something has to be done to stop a runaway train already derailed from civilization, and that the way of rectifying society might not be something they’re willing to admit is necessary.

Whether readers pick up this book with a predisposition against capital punishment or an open mind, they are sure to have their beliefs taken on a roller coaster ride through betwixt and between.  In the end, they may find themselves of a mindset they never thought themselves capable of and not wanting to disclose in public.
